Oliver Hazard Perry's Pocket Chronometer, c. 1813

This unique pocket chronometer was presented to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry by the United States government following his victory over the British on Lake Erie, Pennsylvania in 1813. In his official report written abroad the Flagship Niagara he stated, "We have met the enemy and they are ours." Donated by S. LaRose, Inc. and the LaRose family in memory of Shorty LaRose.
